vincent luk had his birth into the world of photography through his Dad's Zeiss Ikon Contessa LKE and his Mom's Olympus Pen-EE. Influenced by the cameras that surrounded his childhood, it wasn't long until he picked one up for himself and started snapping away. He has evolved as an artist with every new project he's taken on and has developed a distinctive style of story telling by conveying the culture of the places and people he encounters through his photographs. His work is often personal as it explores the essence of his own life experiences, through his travels, spirituality, and wisdom. Film photography is his preferred choice of medium. He believes that there's a sense of warmth and comfort from images captured on film, which he refers to as 'drawing with light'.
hitoshi murakami remembers the first time he held his mother's clunky Yashica. The click of the trigger and the sound of the shutter opening and closing are two of his most treasured memories. Who would have thought those sounds still have the same impact 20-some-odd years later? Hitoshi is influenced by lines, shapes, colours, contours, edges and emotions found in life and how they can be expressed through photography. So basically everything and anything! On a more personal note, he finds the mechanics of taking a picture amusing. Photography can be arguably distilled down to images taken from life; however, that "reality" is only an interpretation. In essence, images are not "captured". They never even existed in the first place.
